Employers who fail to file by this date will be deemed non-compliant and face penalties.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IRS advises employers to start preparing forms before the due date to allow time for correcting W-2 errors. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can find further information on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/instructions\/iw2w3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IRS website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">March 1, 2026<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The<\/strong> <strong>second compliance deadline in 2026 that you need to be aware of is March 1st.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the final date for filing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/sites\/dolgov\/files\/ebsa\/employers-and-advisers\/plan-administration-and-compliance\/reporting-and-filing\/forms\/m1-2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Form M-1<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This form is used to report information concerning any Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements (MEWAs) and Certain Entities Claiming Exception (ECEs). It is also used for reporting information for compliance with Part 7 of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/general\/topic\/retirement\/erisa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employee Retirement Income Security Act<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ERISA). This establishes minimum standards for pension plans in private industries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forms can only be submitted electronically, so make sure you check the process well in advance to avoid any potential technical issues. This is done via electronic forms <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-1094-b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1094-B<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Transmittal of Health Coverage Information Returns) and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/forms-pubs\/about-form-1095-b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1095-B<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Health Coverage Information Return).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>March 31 is also the HR compliance deadline for EEO-1 reports.<\/strong> This is a mandatory annual data collection that requires all private-sector employers with 100 or more employees to submit demographic workforce data, including data by race\/ethnicity, sex, and job categories. This data is then used by Federal agencies to enforce civil rights and analyze employment patterns in different industries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visit the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eeocdata.org\/eeo1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EEO-1 Component 1 website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the latest filing updates and additional information.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">July 31, 2026<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Affordable Care Act imposes a fee on issuers of specified health insurance policies and plans sponsors of applicable self-insured health plans to help fund the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcori.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The fee, <strong>required to be reported only once a year on the second quarter Form 720<\/strong>, is based on the average number of lives covered under a policy or plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, what are these payments for? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the IRS, they are used to \u201cassist, through research, patients, clinicians, purchasers, and policy-makers, in making informed health decisions by advancing the quality and relevance of evidence-based medicine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For more information on whether a type of insurance coverage or arrangement is subject to the fee, see <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/application-of-the-patient-centered-outcomes-research-trust-fund-fee-to-common-types-of-health-coverage-or-arrangements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this chart<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">December 31, 2026<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lastly, the final compliance deadline in 2026 to be aware of relates to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/policy-issues\/coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CARES Act<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act). <\/span>Employers who deferred payroll tax contributions under the CARES Act must repay the remaining 50% of deferred contributions by <strong data-start=\"3091\" data-end=\"3112\">December 31, 2026<\/strong>.
