Finding the perfect balance
“Is there a formula for balancing life with a job you love?” Well, if it exists, I'm still looking for it.
I'm not sure there is one.I think it's a constant search for balance, not easy to find.
Sometimes I manage it quite well, other times not at all.
I think it's always evolving.I love my job, I genuinely enjoy it.
I give it far more time than I'm asked to.Sometimes situations just need more time.
I try to recover and rebalance however I can.I think to work calmly and stay focused, you need to take breaks whenever you can.
I do it whenever I can.I know there are moments when you just can't and others when you can push a bit more.
I'm lucky to work for an airline, traveling is my way to unwind. I love learning,so studying never feels like a chore.
I don't think there's a magic or universal formula.
Everyone has to adapt it to their own needs, and over the years, the need to take regular breaks from work becomes more and more evident, because once I've recharged, I can give my very best again.
It goes beyond my personal experience,we try to apply this for our staff, especially those working at the airport, who I'd say have a very heavy commitment in terms of weekly hours rather than shifts, and so on.
We're working with head office to make sure our people have some support measures that help them balance work and family life, especially for those with children.
Working from Monday to Sunday, even with proper days off,and still not having time for family, is something the company must keep in mind.
We've sent a few proposals to head office, which are now being reviewed, including more flexible arrangements and support for those with young children, time-related help as a complement to what the law already provides, is clearly necessary, but so that colleagues, including men as well, can work better and enjoy family life.
